BISMILLAH, ASSALAMUALAIKUM

My name is IKMAL HAIKAL BIN AZHARI. I am from Bidor,Perak. I was born in 10 November 1998 at Hospital Teluk Intan, Perak. I have four siblings and I am the second. My late school is Sekolah Menengah Agama Daerah Batang Padang. My hobby is reading Ramlee Awang Murshid's novels. I come to IKM because I like to travel far away from home. In IKM, I study Diploma of Competency in Welding. My ambition is to be a succesful welding inspector.

I write this post is to let people know what have I learned in Communication English 1 (NUE 1012)This post is also one of my assignment. So, if I want to pass this subject with flying colours, I must do this post. Hope all of you will enjoy my writing.....CHILL.

BEHOLD, the cutest, prettiest, cheerful, and the most happy go lucky lecturer, PUAN NORSYAZIA BINTI MOHD RADZI (also known as PUAN GG). She lectures us Communication English 1. She lectures us very well. Her smile never get off her face. She does many things to make us understand the topics. The class always get crowded every times. (not hoping for extra marks.). We played games in the first day of the class.

Okay..enough for the introduction, lets start writing about what I have learned with Puan GG.

UNIT 1: SPEAKING ABOUT MYSELF

     In this unit, we learned about Making introduction, Sharing personal information, and Describing feelings and opinions. We don't know what to do because it is the first unit in the subject, but, at the end of the day, we can understand and follow the path.

The first thing that we learned in this unit is making introduction about ourselves. It is hard for silent person like me. Then, Puan GG guide us on how to introduce ourselves by doing activities in the module that she prepared. Alhamdulillah, I got use to it and I've done it.

                               

EMITIONS.There is many types of emotions. Those are some from what we have learned in this unit. It is hard to describe the emotions, but, thanks to WhatsApp's emoji, I done it well. The sixth emotion in the left picture wrote I'm hot, so, I thought I'm hot means handsome-swagger boy. Actually, it is sweaty tired face.

Giving opinions. We must give our very own opinion about IKM, the lecturers, the enviroment, and so on. Of course we just wrote positive opinions only. 

          The other type of giving opinion, Boys Are Better Than Girls. We must give our opinion either we agree or disagree, then, give reasons. Majority of my class agree with the statement, but Aiman Shazwan is the only one who disagree with the statement. He said that he has his own reason for it. For me, actually, it is balance. Boys needs girls and girls needs boys. God made us needs each other. SubhanAllah.

After we finished learn about unit 1, Puan GG told us to have an interview with a 'STRANGER'. Not really strange actually, but, we are a little bit afraid. we must to vote for our interviewer. I got Tuan Othman at first, but, changed to Puan Intan, the counselor, for reasons. We must to record a video to put it in this post. Unfortunately, my video was missing on my own mistake.

UNIT 2: SPEAKING ACCURATELY

          In this unit, we learn how to speaks words correctly,accurately and fluently  like the word's original sound in English slang not Malay slang. Learning this makes us more confident to say the words in front of tourist from the other countries. It is funny when we realised that we did not using the word's original sound. Let's check it out, what did we learned in this unit

DIPHTHONGS. Diphthongs is a vowel sound in which the tongue changes position to produce the sound of two vowels. Weird when it is spells that way.It has weird spelling and alphabets. It is hard to understand it at first, but I am getting better to understand it when Puan GG showed us videos on how to say the words correctly. My eyes going crazy like Hinata in that picture.  LET US SEE THE NOTES. 'Don't look a gift hots into the mouth', 'Where there's smoke there's fire', 'cowards die many times'. Those are the example of the diphthongs in the picture. Puan GG said that she did not master this topic in short time, so, she did not expect more from us.

Word stress. What is word stress? All word that have more than one syllable have word stress. One syllable is longer and louder than the other. Word stress plays an important role of correct pronunciation. For example, CHI-na, com-MIT-tee, and so on. Puan GG uses Meghan Trainor's songs to make us understand this subtopic. Using the song, we may learn and karaoke at the same time.

UNIT 3: PRACTICE IN PUBLIC SPEAKING 

This unit is a challenging unit. It's because, we have to perform a public speaking in front three other Diploma class. In the morning, Puan GG told us that we have to do debate in the class. All of us like 'WHAT'. Then we started the debate.
         

The debate is about Social media:goodness and badness. My team is the proposite side that talking about goodness of social media. The opposite side are with badness of social media. Puan GG said that both team has our own strength. My team has the concrete fact but cannot express the real punchline. The other team's strength is they can make people trust them with their nonsense fact. The whole class going noisy when we in the debate mood. It was like a war without weapon. A fight without punches. Only mouth are talking. Puan GG was so afraid that she message us in WhatsApp : 'Don't have any fight at the hostel, okay!.

After the whole debate thing, we must to perform a public speaking in front of other three Diploma classes. At first, my class want to perform a Choral Speaking but, we saw it is very tough. So, we decided to perform a song. We choose two songs. InsyaAllah, from Maher Zain and Your Mother from Yusuf Islam. We had a such enjoy time by training and performing. We were gave a big hand by the audience.

UNIT 4: SOCIAL COMMUNICATION

In this unit, we learned types of apologising, asking for clarification, and giving a description. This unit is a simple and enjoy unit. We are really relaxed learning this topic.

First subtopic is  Apologizing. In this subtopic, we learned how to making an apologise. We are told to write an apologise letter to one of our friend. Example for an apologise is 'I'm sorry', 'Pardon me', 'Excuse me', and 'I apologise'. 

Asking for clarification is the next thing that we have learned. Clarification is when you want to know a thing clearly. example:

1. May you repeat that?
2. Excuse me?
3. I'm not following you.

Puan GG's order are to draw a face using the description that she gave. I got long pony tail, dot eyebrows, angry eye, round nose, and happy mouth. My first thought is I'm drawing Ariana Grande, then I thought I was drawing Eno in Naruto Shippuden's series. Then I realised that I was drawing a SAMURAI.

HEAR AND GO. This is to train us to our listening test. Puan GG  will tell us an order, then.

UNIT 5 :  MOVIE REVIEW

We must to make a movie review for a movie that we choose. We may choose our pair. Hasanadli and I were a pair.  We chose  MECHANIC: RESURRECTION to make a review. This movie is about a former contract killer (Arthur Bishop by Jason Statham) that start killing again after his girlfriend (Thorne by Jessica Alba) was been kidnapped by an antagonist, Riah Craine. He must to kill three targets in order to free his girlfriend. 

After done the review, the whole class must to make a presentation in front of Puan GG. She always laugh for a reason that we don't know. We were so relief that our class were dismiss for the last time but, behind a happy face, there is a sad feeling. Puan GG may not lectures us anymore.
